Tax your vehicle:
Display your tax disc: Display a tax disc on the passenger side (kerb side) of the vehicle's windscreen. If there is no windscreen or you have a motorcycle or sidecar, display the tax disc on the kerb side of the vehicle. The tax disc can't be transferred between vehicles.
If you don't tax or report your vehicle
The Vehicle Inspection officer's Driver and Vehicle Licensing Administration (VIODVLA) carries out a computer check each month, as well as roadside checks to identify those vehicles without a valid tax disc. You could face an automatic penalty of =N= 5,000.00 as well as a minimum fine of =N=3,500.00. Your vehicle could be clamped, impounded or even crushed.
Tell VIODVLA when you change your name, address or vehicle details so that they can send your vehicle tax reminder on time.
MOT and insurance

Complete the appropriate section of your registration certificate and send to VIODVLA at Ogun State House, Central Business District, P.O.Box 7253 Wuse, Zone 3, Abuja Nigeria to update your vehicle registration. You should receive an acknowledgement letter/ text within four weeks, which you should keep as proof that VIODVLA records have been updated. Contact VIODVLA customer enquires if you don't receive it.
Driving an untaxed vehicle to an MOT test
You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station as long as you have adequate insurance cover in place for the use of that vehicle. This is also for vehicles being driven to and from a pre-arranged test at a Vehicle Inspection Check (VIC) test station, an approved weight testing station and reduced pollution test.
