The Ministry of Transport is concerned about the rate of deaths and injuries as a result of avoidable road accidents in the Country. The theory and practical driving test are re-introduced as one of the measures that would help achieve this target in encouraging appropriate training in scanning the road, recognising at the first opportunity from the clues that a potentially dangerous situation might arise and adopting a driving plan to reduce the risk.
The Directors/Chief Road Traffic Officers in the States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, have resolved to enforce the law on driver's license process as provided in the Road Traffic Regulation Acts 2004.
All driver's licence applicants are advised to process their licence from the nearest Vehicle Inspection Office. You must pass the drivers' licence Theory and Practical driving test to have a valid driver's licence. It is a criminal offence to obtain driver's license through any other process without being tested and certified by a Vehicle Inspection Officer.
VIO-DVLA is the official website for the Ministry of Transport aim at enforcing the road traffic regulations in the States of the Federation. Offenders and illegal possesion of driver's and vehicle licenses will be prosecuted henceforth by the relevant authority.
